SEATTLE UNIVERSITY – After seeing how fun and easy Spotify is for finding new music and listening to your old favorites, Information Technology Services placed a ban on the popular program. Dint Clicus, head of Network Services at ITS, deemed Spotify to be “way too user-friendly and upstanding for Seattle University standards.”
The ban has been met with mixed emotions by SU students and faculty:
“I listen to Korn at 9 am sharp, seven days a week. How can I keep up with this commitment without Spotify?” – Rashida Willhelm, Korn Enthusiast
“Personally I like the ban. It helps curb the temptation of listening to impure music, like hip hop.” – Trent Armani
“What is a Spaterfly?” – Father Sundborg
“I love Shutterfly. It’s a great way to organize and develop your photos in unique ways.” – Turd Ferguson
Of course, there are always alternatives to Spotify. Peer to peer downloading when torrenting still seems to work, so Hard Copy predicts that most students will simply get all the music they need from the Pirate Bay. Good job, ITS!
